PERSONAL PROJECTS

1. NAHUW / El proyecto (que es Wuhan al revés) abarca un periodo de aproximadamente 3 meses desde el inicio de la declaración del estado de alarma hasta la desescalada (fase 2). La pieza se compone de 5 capítulos – estados de ánimo que van desde los más negativos a los más esperanzadores. La pieza habla de la espera, el aburrimiento, las noches oscuras, pero también de los días soleados y las ganas de volver a festejar. Ilusiones y esperanzas naufragan juntas en el país de las maravillas.

2. THE KINGDOM/ Me llamó la atención una ilustración de María Pichel que describe un entorno urbano megaturizado como el de Barcelona en los días del «sistema suspendido» (encierro domiciliario en la primavera de 2020) Una ciudad que sufre las consecuencias de la gentrificación. La ilustración recoge emociones y miradas de un paseo por Barcelona.

3.LUCCIOLE / Me llamó la atención una ilustración que María Pichel realizó en mayo tras su primer recorrido por las calles. El dibujo retrata emociones y miradas de un mágico paseo por Montjuïc. Me gustó tanto la ilustración (con un toque de cómic) que le pedí a María que me dejara dar vida a su obra (o al menos intentarlo). La música original es de Stefano Nottoli.

4. GURU KA LANGAR / Langar (Punjabi: ਲੰਗਰ) es el término utilizado en la religión sij para la cocina común donde se sirve la comida en una Gurdwara a todos los visitantes de forma gratuita.

5. BEAUTIFUL PUSHKAR / Filmé el vídeo en la India. Rodé desde las 4 de la mañana hasta el atardecer para captar todos los matices de color del lago de Pushkar. Mi trabajo se divide en cinco capítulos: el principio, el interludio 1 8:00 A.M, el interludio 2 03:00 P.M, el interludio 3 07:00 P.M y el epílogo )

1. NAHUW / The project (which is Wuhan in reverse) covers a period of approximately 3 months from the beginning of the declaration of the state of alarm to the de-escalation (phase 2). The piece is composed of 5 chapters – moods ranging from the most negative to the most hopeful. The piece talks about waiting, boredom, dark nights but also about sunny days and the desire to party again. Illusions and hopes are shipwrecked together in a wonderland.

2. The Kingdom / I was struck by an illustration by María Pichel that describes a megaturistified urban environment like Barcelona in the days of the “suspended system” (home confinement in spring 2020) A city that suffers the deadly consequences of gentrification. The illustration captures emotions and glances from a walk in Barcelona.

3. Lucciole – I was struck by an illustration that Maria Pichel made in May after her first tour in the streets. The drawing portrays emotions and glances from a magical walk on Montjuïc. I liked the illustration so much (with a touch of comic) that I asked Maria to let me bring her work to life (or at least try to). The music is by Stefano Nottoli.

4. Guru-ka langar / Langar (Punjabi: ਲੰਗਰ) is the term used in the Sikh religion for common kitchen where food is served in a Gurdwara to all the visitors for free.

5. Beautiful Pushkar / I filmed the video in India. I shot from 4 A.M until dusk in order to capture all the shades of colour of Pushkar’s lake. My work is divided in five chapters: the beginning, interlude 1 8:00 A.M, interlude 2 03:00 P.M, interlude 3 07:00 P.M and the epilogue )

6. SOS Children’s Village in Xiengkhouang, Laos
SOS Children’s Villages is an independent, non-governmental international development organization which has been working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children since 1949. It was founded by Hermann Gmeiner in Imst, Austria. The organization’s work focuses on abandoned, destitute and orphaned children requiring family-based child care.
